Le Pacifique | the venue

In 2004, the Christiane Blaise Company celebrated its 20th anniversary; it was a year marked by the renovation of a former factory site covering 970 m2 which became Le Pacifique?s fabulous new venue for choreographic development and creation.
The company received support from the Grenoble city council, the district council of Is?re, the R?gion Rh?ne-Alpes and the Ministry of Culture and Communication which helped guarantee the project?s success.
The new site, which was specially designed for contemporary dance, gave the company the chance to pursue its choreographic creativity, continuous training courses for professional dancers and dance awareness schemes.

The great availability of work space at Le Pacifique has also allowed Christiane Blaise to develop her policy of welcoming in other companies with budding projects. These incoming companies are then able to develop their own creative choreographic projects. The acquisition of Le Pacifique helped to answer an appeal for more space, boost the company?s work in the Grenoble community and build mutual relationships with other companies.

Choreographic Development Centre (CDC)

In 2007, Le Pacifique took its place as one of the 10 Choreographic Development Centres. Placed under the artistic direction of Christiane Blaise, who chose to stop her company, the CDC has become a well-established site providing guidance for many choreographic companies and nourishing their ideas.

As part of the principle of supporting creativity in all its forms, from local productions to regional, national and international performances, the CDC group organises special dance experiences (festivals and various other events). They also hold choreographic residencies and continue to lead amateur and professional training courses and awareness building community schemes. They support initiatives from emerging companies, both independent and registered, and are today considered valuable resource centres for dance.
